the opportunity to tell those special people
in our lives, just how important they are to
us. We, at RE/MAX Northeast Realtors,
had that opportunity in December. Our
administrative manager and I put our
heads together and formulated a plan to
get the whole office together for a
“Christmas Social,” an informal gathering
held at my home, a Thursday evening
happy hour.
We had two people and two special
occasions and we wanted to celebrate.
The first was our Broker, Jenny Bingham.
We had a
special
Christmas
gift for her
from all of
us at the
RE/MAX
Northeast
office.
The
second honoree
was one
of our dearest
and most
cherished
agents, Vi
McBride. I
hope she
will forgive
us for announcing her age to the whole
world…but she turned an incredible,
amazing and unbelievable 85 this month.
Vi, she has been a full-time licensed
Realtor since 1973 and has been with
RE/MAX Northeast Realtors since 1986.
We wanted to honor her on this landmark
birthday and let her know just how much
we all love and admire her.
The Plan: We told Jenny that we
were having a surprise birthday party for
Vi, and we told Vi that we were having a
surprise Christmas Social to give Jenny
her gift. Then we told the rest of the

office that we were doing both and to keep
quiet!
Miraculously, we pulled it off.
They were both totally surprised. After
about an hour of eating, drinking and merriment,
we gathered everyone around in
the living room. We said some words of
praise and gratitude, to our wonderful
Broker, Jenny Bingham…who looked
around rather confused…and we then presented
her with our gift. It was a framed
print signed by the artist, who paints beautiful
depictions of the Albuquerque balloon
festival. We had the artist superimpose
two of the RE/MAX balloons discretely
into the hundreds of balloons in
the picture.
She was
thrilled, surprised
and thoroughlyconfused.
She
kept looking at
Vi saying, “I
thought this
party was for
you!” At
which point we
quickly geared
our attention
towards Vi.
As we
gathered
around Vi, she was presented with a handmade
keepsake box, which we placed in
her lap. One at a time, we each stepped
forward to present her with a flower and
read to her our heartfelt handwritten notes
of adoration. We then handed her the
notes and cards to be placed in her treasure
box. There wasn’t a dry eye in the
house. This incredible woman has been an
inspiration to us. She received enough
flowers to put together three beautiful floral
arrangements. We sang Happy
Birthday and had birthday cake provided
by Vi’s adoring sweetheart, Charlie. We
love you too, Charlie for taking such good
care of our favorite gal!
