Susan Gibson is the 2008 recipient
of the REALTOR® Broker of the Year
award.
After moving to Texas in 1985 she
got her real estate license, in 1988 her broker’s
license, and her first management
position was with Coldwell Banker
D’Ann Harper. Learning the fundamentals
of sales and office management.
Susan went on to own and operate a
Realty Executives and a Prudential office
while owning and managing 34 rental
properties.
Active in SABOR, she has served
on Education, Finance, Equal Opportunity
in Housing, Forms, Governmental Affairs,
Grievance, REALTOR® Rally,
Recommendations, Professional
Standards, and two terms on the Board of
Directors. At the state association level,
she has served on the Education and
Professional Standards committees, and
on the Manufactured Home and
Subcontractor Agreement Revision task
forces. She has lobbied for the REAL-
TOR® industry and private property
rights on Capitol Hill with the NAR dele-

She is currently the Managing
Broker/CEO for Century 21 United Group
with eleven offices in San Antonio,
Seguin, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels,
and LaVernia. She is the past president
of the San Antonio Area Century 21
Brokers Council.
Ms. Gibson has earned the GRI,
CRS, and CRB designations and was the
charter vice president and organizer of the
GRI Society.
Linda Rasmussen of TC Austin
Residential Group, LLC, dba Exit Realty
– TC Austin, is the 2008 recipient of the
REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year
award. She has had her real estate license
for over 25 years.
Ms. Rasmussen has been very
involved at the local level of the
Association of REALTORS®. She has
served on the Board of Directors and was
the 2007 Member-at-Large of the
Executive Committee and the 2008
Secretary/Treasurer. She has also served
on various committees including REAL-
TOR®/Builder, Grievance,

(MLS). In 2006, she was the Chairman of
the MLS committee and was very instrumental
in 2008 helping to select
dynaConnections, SABOR’s new MLS
vendor. Ms. Rasmussen has also been
involved with WCR since the late 80’s. In
2005 and 2006 she served as the Directory
Chair. She is also a current member of the
local CRS chapter and has designations in
CRP, GRI, RRC, LTG, PMS, e-PRO, and
is certified as At Home with Diversity by
the National Association of REAL-
TORS®.
Ms. Rasmussen is very involved
with community organizations and has
worked in diverse civic groups such as the
National Organization for Women, Red
Cross, American Civil Liberties Union
and her neighborhood associations, just to
name a few. As a community organizer,
she has assisted with voter registration
projects in California, Washington DC,
Mississippi, and Florida, as well as Texas.
While living in Europe, she helped military
members and their families to exercise
their rights by assisting with absentee
voting procedures and a Congressional
petition for the Equal Rights Amendment.
She is a graduate of the University
of Maryland, European Division, with a
BS in Psychology, and minors in
Women’s Studies and Sociology.

Rookie of the Year recipient. Mrs. Brewer
joined the firm in the fall of 2007 which
made this her first full year in real estate.
During her first year, Mrs. Brewer totaled
over $3 million in sales. She built many of
her connections around the Internet and

gy and finds that the most important key
to growing her business is her genuine
desire to help others accomplish their
goals and building long-lasting relationships.
Mrs. Brewer took the initiative to
get involved with the San Antonio Board
of REALTORS® and became a team captain
for the Texas Association of REAL-
TORS® Convention that was held in
September in downtown San Antonio.
She was also appointed to be a representative
for the Phyllis Browning Company to
the Greater San Antonio Builder’s
Association and was an Ambassador for
the 2008 Parade of Homes. Additionally,
Mrs. Brewer earned her Accredited
Luxury Home Specialist (ALHS) designation.
Outside of real estate, Mrs. Brewer
is a PTA volunteer and an active member
at her church. She understands the importance
of giving back to the community
and together with her family, they volunteer
for the annual Elf Louise Project and
the Raul Jimenez Dinner. She also volunteers
her time to the annual American
Diabetes Walk and will be serving as the
2009 Vice President of the Republican
Business Women of Bexar County. Mrs.
Brewer is married to her husband Bill
Brewer and shares a family of six including
four teenagers.

Award recipient. Mr. Patterson has held
his license for over 24 years and specializes
in property management. He has
been involved at all levels of the
Association of REALTORS® holding
director positions at the local, state and
national levels and was the 2007 San
