Hello! I hope your 2009 is off to a
great start! It certainly is for the Alamo
Area South Texas CRS Chapter! We are
excited about the CRS education classes
we will be offering, our networking/business
luncheons, and our Chapter With A
Heart project! We are expanding into new
areas and hoping you will join us on this
journey!
Our first CRS class of 2009 is right
around the corner! It’s CRS 200—
Business Planning and Marketing. We
will offer this class at SABOR on Feb. 12-
13. I know everyone is aware that our
market conditions have changed in the last
year and will continue to do so in 2009.
Agents who will be successful and grow
their businesses will do so because they
have a plan! They plan their work and
they work their plan! If your plan is a bit
vague, or even non-existent, then you need

Speaking of education, we’ll be in
McAllen, Texas March 5-6 to present
CRS 201—Listing Strategies for the
Residential Specialist, and in New
Braunfels April 1-2 with CRS 204—
Building Wealth Through Residential Real
Estate Investment. This is a great time to
learn how to build personal wealth for
yourself, and your clients, by investing in
what we all know best—real estate! It’s a
buyer’s market right now so learn how to
use it to your own advantage!
Our first networking and business
luncheon of 2009 is coming up on
February 17 at the Club at Sonterra. Our
first speaker is Judith Markelz, the director
of the Warrior and Family Support Center
at Ft. Sam. The Warrior Support Center
was our focus for 2008 and again for
2009’s Chapter With a Heart project. We
helped stock their brand new kitchen! In
November, 2008 Chair Patsy Oakley,
Esther Lemieux, 2009 Chair Cathy Cole,
and I had a blast shopping at Costco for
dishes, kitchen appliances, pantry staples,

the center’s temporary quarters. Then, in
December, we were honored to be invited
to attend the dedication ceremony for this
extraordinary facility, meet some of the
servicemen and women and families it
serves, as well as tour the building and
grounds. We were all so inspired, thrilled,
and humbled by the experience. This
remarkable facility came about all because
of Judith Markelz, who wanted a Wii
game system for her guys!
