It’s April! Spring is here, buyers are
waking up, yards and trees are greening
up, it’s almost time for Fiesta! What an
exciting time of year! The first quarter of
2009 has been busy for the Alamo CRS
chapter! We have had 2 CRS well-attended
CRS classes. CRS 204—Building
Wealth Through Residential Real Estate
Investment—is happening in New
Braunfels April 1-2. And, we’re excited to
be taking CRS education to Corpus Christi
June 4-5. Ed Hatch is coming to Corpus to
present CRS 210—the referral course!
I told you last time about our
February luncheon speaker, Judith
Markelz, from the Warrior and Family
Support Center. We were expecting a
wonderful program and she did not disappoint!
She had the room completely spellbound
and everyone left with a determination
to help and support those who have
given so much for us and our country.
Chapter With a Heart got off to a rousing
start! Thank you, Judith!! And thanks to
Patsy Oakley, Cathy Cole, and Kate
Keating who all played a big part in

putting that program and project together!
I hope you will join us at our April
21 luncheon for another timely and important
program. We will have a mayoral
forum moderated by Dr. Richard Gambitta
from UTSA with the 4 major mayoral candidates.
Come and hear what Julian
Castro, Diane Cibrian, Trish DeBerry-
Mejia, and Sheila McNeil have to say
about the challenges facing San Antonio
and their ideas and plans to deal with those
challenges and propel the city forward. It
should be a lively and interesting forum.
As realtors, and citizens, it’s important that
we be informed on the issues. Even if you
don’t actually live in the San Antonio city
limits, what happens with the city affects
all of us and our businesses. If you haven’t
decided who you want to vote for, maybe
this will help you make up your mind! Be
sure to RSVP!! Program chair, Kate
Keating, has worked hard to put this
together—it’s not easy to get 5 busy people
in the same place at the same time!
Thanks, Kate!
I have been so gratified by the

increased attendance at our CRS classes so
far this year. Market conditions have
changed and are continuing to do so.
Successful agents who keep up with
what’s happening and enhance and
improve their skills will set themselves
apart. There’s no better way to accomplish
this than by taking advantage of CRS
classes! Alamo Chapter has had 3 courses
so far in 2009, and we have a 4th class
coming up in Corpus in June. We are so
fortunate to have nationally known
instructors come here to teach these class-
es. These instructors go all over the U.S.
and even to other countries. They see
what’s happening in lots of different areas
and they bring that perspective to us.
Really makes us appreciate where we are!!
Do yourself a favor and come to Corpus in
June! Learn how to build your business
with referrals, and learn from Ed Hatch
who wrote the course!! Then stay over and
hit the beach!! Is this a great business or
what??
See you at the April 21 luncheon!

Great seeing you again! Amy Karnes of Northwest Real Estate greets
SWBC Mortgage’s Kate Leonard as she attends the CRS business meeting
at Sonterra.
