Staging Tips For A
Great First Impression
Part V
• Repair any items that are broken. This will show that the home is welltaken-care-of.
In most cases, buyers will ask for them to be repaired
anyway, so do it now so they will not constantly be looking for hidden
damage.
• Keep the toilet lids DOWN.
• Remove any clothes hanging behind doors. Is your house lacking in
storage space? Thin out all clothing in closets. Little things create
cluter and clutter shows “lack of care and concern” and possibly the lack
of storage space.
• Wash all windows and make sure they operate freely. If the seal is
broken on a double-pane window, replace it now.
• Natural light makes the rooms seem larger.
We almost always take off old, heavy drapery and put something light,
airy and gauzy in its place. Use sheers and a tension rod to achieve this
look.
• If privacy is paramount, top-down, bottom-up Roman shades will block
the neighbors' view of your bathtub.
• If windows are narrow, extend curtain rods a foot or so on each side to
suggest width.
• If your ceilings are low, hang rods right at the ceiling line and consider
window treatments with vertical stripes to create the illusion of height.
