Alamo Institute
Alamo Institute is proud to be San
Antonio’s choice provider for real estate prelicensing
instruction and mandatory continuing
education. Alamo Institute has been familyowned
and operated since 1994 by husband
and wife team Bob and Tonya Lapinski. Bob, a
retired public school teacher and US Air Force
officer, and Tonya, a former store manager and
buyer for Dillard’s, first entered real estate education
with their son-in-law and daughter -
Robert and Elaine Christian, in the mid-1990s.
Since 2000, when the Christians relocated their
family west, Bob and Tonya have been the sole
owners and operators of Alamo Institute.
“Alamo Institute has always been guided
by the core philosophy to offer a quality,
affordable real estate education in a comfortable
classroom environment, while delivering
the extras like a sincere willingness to help that
only a family operator can provide,” says Bob.
It’s that commitment to quality and
value that has helped the school grow from two
classrooms and a daily 58-student capacity to
four classrooms, a daily capacity of 158 students,
and an instructor roster including more
than 20 local agents and real estate professionals.
Moreover, Alamo maintains a respected
local reputation and a steady flow of referrals
from brokers, agents and the San Antonio
Board of Realtors.
For convenience, Alamo includes in the
cost of course tuition the published textbooks
and instructional materials required for each
course.
“Bob and I have always felt that our students
achieve because of the knowledge and
experience our instructors impart, and that texts
become great resources for agents’professional
reference libraries,” says Tonya.
Moreover, Alamo Institute has partnered
with Career WebSchool to offer online
MCE courses including “Texas Continuing
Education” and “Texas Appraisal Continuing
Education.” And in collaboration with ACT -
Baylor University, Alamo offers online prelicensing,
post-licensing and MCE real estate
training courses.
However, while online or correspondence
courses may be appropriate for some
agents, and textbooks can provide the necessary
theory. “There is no substitute for the face-toface
contact with an experienced instructor,”
says Tonya.
“It is the instructor that provides the
insights and practical know-how that enable a
student to be successful on the job,” adds Bob.

“We like to say – ‘there’s no substitute for the
classroom.’”
What’s more, the school recently underwent
a re-branding process and has launched a
colorful and fresh ad campaign featuring a new
logo and updated messaging.
“Our students have come to expect
the very best in instruction and classroom environment,
and Alamo’s new look reflects our
renewed commitment to serve our students for
another 14 years and beyond,” says Tonya.
Along with the upcoming launch of
an updated and more user-friendly website with
online registration capabilities, Alamo Institute
is also announcing the creation of a new
“Alamo Alumni” group to connect agents who
have completed their pre-licensing coursework
at Alamo.
“We see so many of our agents in the
field and at license renewal time, but we want to
provide a quarterly opportunity to help our
‘alumni’ agents network and get some quick,
helpful and topical professional development,”
says Tonya.
Alamo Institute plans to kick-off their
alumni program this year and will contact former
students with more information on how to
get involved.
For all active agents, Alamo Institute
offers a complete selection of MCE courses
with day and week-end schedules available.
Hourly courses are offered at the following
affordable rates: 3 hours • $25, 4 hours • $30, 7
hours • $55, 8 hours • $60, and 15 hours • $95.
