school is out, business is blossoming and
record temperatures prove the HEAT is
here. This month we had a very busy luncheon.
Our Member of the Year was
announced, our state president Mary Ann
Jeffers spoke to us, our broker manager
spotlight featured our first man, and tickets
sales for Hot Havana Nights spiked. If
that wasn’t enough Vice President of
Texas Association of REALTORS John
Gormley discussed member benefits, and
our chapter pledged its commitment to
TREPAC by contributing $2500 becoming
a Golden R.
Congratulations to the 2008
Member of the Year Jay Gilmore of WR
Starkey, who is currently serving his third
term as membership committee chairperson.
Jay has been an active member of our
organization participating in chapter
events ranging from the Race for The Cure
to holiday shopping trips, and of course
being a male model in last year’s fashion
show. Ask Jay about membership value,
and he will tell you how to get involved

and make the most of your membership.
Ask Jay why he is a member of Women’s
Council of REALTORS and the first word
out of his mouth is WOMEN. We are all
thankful for your contributions to our
organization Jay.
Another man featured at this
month’s luncheon was Mr. Chip Brown,
manager at Coldwell Banker D’Ann
Harper REALTORS. Chip is one of our
newest members, but has quickly become
involved, serving on the membership and
media committees. In his spotlight, Mr.
Brown shared his enthusiasm for the programs
this year and the sense of being
connected to other members within our
industry.
We all rose to the occasion to listen
to Mary Ann Jeffers the 2008 Texas WCR
State President. Mary Ann, who attends
our meetings regularly, shared with us the
recent debates over the proposed bylaws
changes, including a dues increase. Mary
Ann was happy to report how that motion
was defeated. Mrs. Jeffers also shared
with us testimonials from other members

across the state sharing the value of WCR.
Her message described how involvement
in Women’s Council can transpire to various
avenues of leadership possibilities.
We look forward to our calendar lady,
Mary Ann, participating in our REALTOR
Live Auction at Hot Havana Nights.
Hot Havana Nights ticket sales
spiked. Have you bought your tickets yet?
We are expecting 400 of our closest
friends to come out an enjoy mojitos,
Cuban food, salsa dancing and our LIVE
REALTOR AUCTION. Bring your check
books, and get ready to bid for a chance to
win Shadow Staggers, take a fishing trip
with Debbie and Rick Acosta, or perhaps
enjoy a barbeque at Mickey Farrell’s lake
house with Mary Ann Jeffers.
You DO NOT have to be a member
to attend this event. Tickets are $50 and
include your first mojito during our MOJI-
TO MINGLE, a Cuban buffet, and plenty
of dancing including a salsa lesson from
Fred Astaire dancers. For advertising or

Also special thanks to
