Exciting Election Season!
Voter Edition
Well, by now you may have
moved past this very active election
season, but I hope you felt the excitement
generated by the presidential
race and all the down ballot races.
Although SABOR does not take a
position in the presidential election,
your vote makes a difference now, this
year, this moment ~ more than in any
other recent election.
All SABOR endorsed candidates
won their elections. These are REAL-
TOR® and private property owners’
victories. Thanks to those of you who
worked the polls on behalf of these
fine candidates. They are now assured
to return to Austin and Washington DC
to represent us. Also, County
Commissioner-Elect Kevin Wolff and
County Commissioner Chico
Rodriguez were supported by SABOR
and will be representing us locally. We
look forward to their continued leader-

Election trivia: As a bit of trivia,
400,638 individuals cast an early vote
out of the total number of registered
voters (930,943) for an early turnout
of 43.04%. That is up from 256,531
early voters who voted out of 908,466
registered through early voting in
2004 for a turnout of 30.25%. Early
Voting participation has increased in
every subsequent election cycle since
its inception.
Election fact: Before Tuesday's election,
the secretary of state estimated that
68% of registered voters would vote. The
actual turnout was 59%. More than 8
million Texans cast ballots; two-thirds of
them voted early. This election showed
an increase in the number of early voters,
who usually represent half of voters.
